Can I mix subwoofer sizes?

<< Back to Articles Home
We have received many emails in the past regarding having a subwoofer box built with multiple subwoofer sizes in one custom enclosure. We always advise against mixing subwoofer sizes inside a subwoofer box.

The primary reason we do not recommend using multiple subwoofer sizes in one box is sound quality. Having two 10" subwoofers and a 12" subwoofer in a single sub box will not improve sound, and worse yet, you run the risk of sound cancellation between the subwoofers. This can have a severe, adverse effect on the overall sound of your subwoofer system. Therefore, we recommend only using a single subwoofer size in your setup.

We do not build custom subwoofer boxes for more than a single subwoofer size and do not recommend having one made for your subwoofer setup. The sound of a single-size subwoofer system will result in superior sound and overall satisfaction with your subwoofer selection.
